Chalmette Volunteer Opportunity Registration
Thanks for your interest in Chalmette National Cemetery Volunteer Month 2018!
Volunteers will learn how to properly document, realign, and clean headstones through hands-on work, while gaining a deeper understanding of Chalmette National Cemetery through a brief interpretative program.
Monday-Friday shift runs from 9:00 am to 1:30 pm. Saturdays and Sundays have two shifts: 9:00 am to 12:00 pm and 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm. Feel free to sign up for as many time slots as you’d like.
- Those below 16 years of age must be accompanied by a parent/guardian at all times.
- For youth groups, we ask that there be one adult supervisor for every ten youth participants.
- An electronically signed release form is required from each volunteer before they begin any volunteer activity. (After submitting the form on the right, you will be directed to the online release form.)
- Minors must have their application form electronically signed by their parent/guardian.
Registration will open at 8:30 am everyday. Registration for the afternoon shift will open at 12:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays. Please arrive with appropriate clothing (closed-toed shoes, long pants, a hat) and a fully charged cell phone. We strongly encourage you to bring a lunch to enjoy during the interpretative program, as well as sunscreen and bug spray.
