As the chief financial officer of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Laura Bracis reports to the president and the board on all aspects of the financial health of the organization. She oversees accounting and financial reporting, budgeting, treasury, financial analysis, and works with the Investments Committee and external advisors to manage the endowment.
Laura joined the National Trust in August 2020 after serving as the controller at the Nature Conservancy, the world’s largest conservation organization. During her nine years at the Conservancy, Laura oversaw corporate finance and treasury activities for 38 countries, introduced robotic process automation and business process improvements, was responsible for the design and implementation of a new financial system, and was twice named an Ethical Hero.
Prior to the Conservancy, Laura worked at Inova Health System in internal audit and for PricewaterhouseCoopers as an auditor of primarily nonprofits.
Laura is a graduate of Washington & Lee University in historic Lexington, Virginia, and a licensed CPA and certified fraud examiner.
