As chief marketing officer, Matt Montgomery leads the effort to engage and inspire the National Trust’s core supporters and develop new audiences. The essence of this work is to promote the National Trust’s highest priorities: Saving America’s Historic Sites; Telling the Full American Story; and Building Stronger Communities. He and his team develop and implement innovative marketing campaigns and products that attract new and existing advocates, donors, and corporate partners to the preservation community.

Previously, Matt worked as the chief marketing officer at the Trustees of Reservations, where he oversaw stakeholder engagement, including marketing, membership, and visitor interpretation. He also worked as director of marketing and communications at the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, where he oversaw the public relations and marketing initiatives for the opening of the new wing designed by Renzo Piano.

Before that he worked at the Museum of Art at the Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), the Museum of Modern Art in New York and colleges and universities in Atlanta, GA. Matt has his B.A. in English from the University of Georgia and his M.A. in English and American Literature from Georgia State University.
