Palace Preservation Work Begins

September 30, 2015 by Amy Cole

In an exciting turn of events, $680,000 for the Palace was appropriated by the legislature in the special session that concluded in early June. This opens the door to begin much-needed exterior repairs. Palace of the Governors staff has just completed the bidding process to begin adobe repairs which will be underway soon, and we are delighted that there will be preservation in action at the Palace any day. We will return to the roundhouse in January to continue towards our total goal of securing the $1.5 million needed for repairs to the historic structure that is one of the oldest, in-use public buildings in the United States.

If you were in Santa Fe over Labor Day, we hope you stopped by to see National Trust staff that were hosting a booth at The Santa Fe Fiesta Council Labor Day Weekend Fine Arts & Crafts Market where we met over 1,000 enthusiastic preservationists.

The National Mall Tidal Basin is threatened by rising sea levels and as much as $500 million in repairs and upgrades. Join our campaign to ensure this 107-acre landscape is preserved for future generations.
