On Tuesday, January 29, 2019, the Chairman of the Domes Task Force Bill Lynch, reported to the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisor Parks, Environment, and Energy Committee (PEEC) on the progress made by the Task Force, which has completed the first two phases of the Future Path and Feasibility Study. The first two of three phases resulted in selecting two options for further study: targeted investments and designation attraction. Chairman Lynch also asked for funding for Phase III so the Task Force can make a final report and recommendation to the full Board of Supervisors as soon as possible. PEEC approved formally placing the report in the legislative file but took no additional action.

The Phase I Domes Future Path and Feasibility Study states “[There] are viable approaches that can help to provide for a sustainable and economically viable Domes facility in Mitchell Park in the future. These approaches will require initial and ongoing investment by the public and private sectors.” The National Trust and Milwaukee Preservation Alliance firmly agree and believe that a meeting of the Board of Supervisors on February 7 is going to be crucial to ensure the Task Force continues its important work. You can read about the two options selected for further study and the full Domes Task Force Interim Report & Request for Action here.
