Preservation Personals: Picture-Perfect Circa 1800 Stone House in York, Pennsylvania
Close to the city, but with the feel of the country, I am a picture-perfect stone house in York, Pennsylvania, built around 1800. Beautifully renovated while maintaining a sophisticated early American feel, I offer plenty of space to relax while enjoying my tasteful historic details.
Sitting on 6.5 acres of land in a lush area, I am the country retreat you secretly long for. I’m not too out of the way though, a mere twenty-minute drive from downtown York, Pennsylvania, and forty minutes from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania!
A spacious sunroom and additional screened-in porch allow you to enjoy my scenery after a long day at work. Adding to my country quaintness are two surviving historic outbuildings: The property’s original stone smokehouse and springhouse are still standing in the backyard.
My updated kitchen features beautiful country-chic cabinetry alongside stainless steel appliances. Large windows throughout give my spaces a bright, refreshing feel while deep windowsills and painted trim serve as a reminder of my historic heritage.
Wide-plank blond wood floors and a large central entrance foyer with staircase point to my two centuries of history. I'm full of gorgeous details: chair rails, large doors, wainscoting, a brass chandelier, and pops of color in a historically inspired palette. My most impressive feature is the wall of carved wood paneling surrounding a gas fireplace that looks like it's straight out of a museum! Imagine the cozy nights you could spend in front of the roaring fire ... it's the experience only a classy country house like me can bring!
