Statement from Carol Quillen on January 22 Hearing in National Trust v. National Park Service et al

Today, the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia held a hearing on the National Trust’s request for a preliminary injunction that would halt construction of the White House ballroom until all legally required review processes have been completed.

The Honorable Judge Leon did not issue an opinion at this time, but National Trust president and CEO Carol Quillen expressed the following:

“Today, we fiercely defended the interests of the American people and advocated compliance with the law. We will continue to advocate for the administration to follow the law and to give the public a chance to be heard before the continuation of construction activity makes the outcome irreversible.”

Carol Quillen, President and CEO, National Trust for Historic Preservation
