  • Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act Introduced in Congress

    April 27, 2022

Senators Alex Padilla (D-CA) and Roger Wicker (R-MS), as well as Representatives Troy Carter (D-LA) and Michael Guest (R-MS), introduced the Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act (S.3340 / H.R. 7451). The legislation would create a competitive grant program within the Economic Development Administration (EDA) to support business district organizations in rural and underserved areas through the national nonprofit networks in which they participate.

By providing a new pathway for EDA resources, the Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act would supplement existing programs to add needed resources and a distribution channel that prioritizes historically disinvested communities and entrepreneurs. As Congress considers reauthorization of the EDA, Main Street America, a subsidiary of the National Trust, is leading efforts to include the Revitalizing Small and Local Businesses Act to help create more robust and equitable access to federal resources for business district organizations.
