Reviews

Comprised of three 19th-century buildings, the Amana Heritage Museum tells the story of the Amana Colonies from the origins of the religious group in 18th-century Germany through today. Set on spacious grounds, the 1864 Noe house and the 1870 schoolhouse are home to various exhibits and special programs detailing the history, crafts, and industries of the Inspirationists. An award-winning video on the history of the Amana colonies plays daily in the schoolhouse. The original wash house and wood shed, both integral parts of the communal lives of the Amana culture, house wine-making and garden displays.

The Amana Heritage Museum is open daily, April 1 through October 31.
