Castle Farms was constructed in 1918 by Albert Loeb, the acting President of Sears and Roebuck. It was built as a working dairy farm to test farm equipment that was sold in the catalog. Mr. Loeb loved castles, so he arranged for his farm to resemble a French, Normandy style castle. Over the years, it has been an artists’ mecca and rock and roll concert venue. The Castle was purchased in 2001 and began an extensive restoration project. The roofs were replaced, wings were added back according to original blueprints, and extensive gardens were created. Other notable activities include a wine tasting room, Michigan's largest outdoor model railroad, a World War I museum, and private collections including royal, wedding, and other memorabilia.
Castle Farms is open for tours and special events all year long.
