Overlooking Colorado's largest natural lake, the Kauffman House is an authentically restored Victorian hotel, formerly the home of the Kauffman family. It was built by Ezra Kauffman in 1892, and operated by the family until Ezra's death in 1920. It remained a summer hotel in the Kauffman family's ownership until 1946. The hand-hewn logs for the building came from Kauffman's homestead in what is now Rocky Mountain National Park. The period furnishings are from the Kauffman family and community members. Ezra and Belle Kauffman's three daughters were born and raised in the house. This two-story building contains the entryway, Ezra and Belle's bedroom, a parlor, dining room and kitchen on the first floor and the three daughter's bedrooms and five guest rooms located upstairs. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.
