Opened in 2005, the Reginald F. Lewis Museum of African American History & Culture is the state’s central repository for the cultural, historical, and artistic artifacts that tell the contributions made by African American Marylanders. A longstanding Smithsonian Affiliate, the Lewis Museum hosts a core collection of more than 11,000 objects, artifacts, documents, and photographs that span 400 years of Maryland history.
