The Pike County Historical Society at The Columns is housed in a 1904 Neo-Classical-style mansion. There are two floors of exhibits that detail the people, places, and things that make up the history of Pike County. The most prized holding includes a 36-star flag stained with the blood of President Lincoln. The flag was draped over the balustrade of the Presidential Box at Ford's Theater the night Lincoln was shot. Additionally, a fully restored Abbott and Downing Stage Coach (circa 1850) is located in the museum.
Other artifacts and collections include early tools and machinery, American Indian exhibits and artifacts, vintage clothing, journals and ledgers, and maps and documents pertinent to the history of Pike County and surrounding areas. The museum hosts historical programs and lectures and offer a genealogical and research library for public use
