“A hidden gem in Orange, Virginia,” according to the Washington Post. Housed in the 1930 Powell Motor Company building, this unique museum features presidential, cultural, and agricultural stories and artifacts. The permanent exhibit rooms include: the presidents room, black history room, hall of agriculture and transportation, and coming in 2019, native peoples of orange county. The temporary exhibit room changes several times during the year, featuring artifacts from the museum's diverse collection. On view is a 1733 "cube” house built for Royal Governor Alexander Spotswood, one of the two oldest remaining structures in Orange. Although it appears deceptively small from the outside, the museum includes 6,000 square feet of exhibits—something that always surprises visitors. We are located in the historic Town of Orange, Virginia; just a five minute drive from James Madison’s home, Montpelier, and 35 minutes from Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello.
