Plan Your VisitThe Henry Timrod Library, established in 1897, chartered in 1908, and in its present building since 1915, is one of only two Membership Libraries still in existence in South Carolina today. This beautifully maintained brick bungalow was built specifically as a library and features its original diamond pane windows, a deep, welcoming porch, and quaint side courtyard, all representative of early 20th-century Low Country architecture. The Timrod's continued independent use and vibrant literary presence in Summerville has earned it a place on the National Register of Historic Places and inclusion on the South Carolina National Heritage Corridor.
