National Mall and Memorial Parks
The Columbus Fountain serves as the grand entrance to Washington, D.C., Union Station where over 37 million visitors from around the world converge each year to enter the capital city of the United States. Co-created by sculptor Lorado Taft and architect Daniel Burnham in 1912, the fountain was an original feature of the famously designed Union Station.
Plagued by lack of funding and resources over the years, however, the prominent fountain has fallen into disrepair.
