The Pauli Murray House, located in Durham, North Carolina, has been named a National Treasure. Announced on March 25, during Women’s History Month, the Pauli Murray House Treasure is the result of a partnership between the National Trust and the National Collaboration for Women’s Sites(NCWHS). We will be working together to identify and save sites that reflect the rich, but often overlooked, contributions of women to our nation’s history.

The Trust and NCWHS will assist the Pauli Murray Center of History and Social Justice with technical advice on the rehabilitation of the home and interpretation of the site. NPR recently described Pauli Murray as "The ‘black, queer, feminist’ legal trailblazer you never heard of." Working in concert, the National Trust, the Pauli Murray Center for Social Justice, and the National Collaborative for Women’s History Sites will rehabilitate both Pauli Murray’s home and her place in American history.
