Hundreds of locals and visitors alike excitedly entered the historic Tabor Opera House in Leadville, Colorado, on May 21st for the venue’s eclectic season opener of “An Evening at the Theatre.” The energy was palpable as Leadville Mayor Greg Labbe graciously accepted the reins of the building from the Bland Family, long-time caretakers and owners of the legendary playhouse, and enthusiastically shared the City’s vision to revitalize the theatre as a community hub for enriching arts and cultural performances. Such a use was already exemplified that evening as the High Country Chorale and Lake County High School Chamber Choir and Jazz Band performed as part of the production.

Proceeds from the performance will go to the Tabor Opera House Preservation Foundation to help the City and National Trust secure a vibrant future for the opera house. Visit www.savethetabor.com for a list of summer events at Leadville’s own National Treasure.
