Mapping Heritage: Tech Tools for Preservation Planning

Technology is reshaping how preservation professionals document, analyze, and plan for historic places. This webinar explores tools such as GIS, field data collection, mapping, and visualization to support preservation planning and adaptive reuse. Attendees will learn strategies for filling critical data gaps, building actionable datasets, and using technology to inform planning decisions.

Presenters include Sara Bronin, who will share the first ever standardized repository of historic places and the legal protections for them; Chris Carlberg, who will present mapping resources he created for the APA Design Preservation Rapid Assistance; and Greg Yanito, will demonstrate the use of digital tools to map field conditions in real time.

Registrants to this webinar will receive periodic updates and communications from the National Trust for Historic Preservation as well as the American Planning Association.
