Yellowstone National Park

  • Location: Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming

The ten overlooks of the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River delight millions of visitors every year from across the globe with dramatic perspectives of the river's power and grandeur—the same views that once persuaded Congress to preserve Yellowstone as the world's first national park.

Visitors to one of those overlooks—the Brink of Upper Falls, built in 1936—follow a footpath to the naturalistic flagstone staircase leading to the observation platform. However, neither the path nor the platform meets current accessibility or safety standards.

A $250,000 grant from Partners in Preservation: National Parks will rehabilitate historic stonework at the Brink of Upper Falls Overlook, one of ten overlooks around the canyon, to ensure future generations witness the dramatic perspective of Yellowstone.
