Great Branch Rosenwald Teacherage
Visit Great Branch Rosenwald Teacherage
Plan Your VisitThe Great Branch Rosenwald Teacherage is one of only eight teachers' homes built in South Carolina under the Rosenwald school building program, and it is the only one that has been restored to reflect its era of significance. The home was built in 1924-25 at a time when education for African Americans was more than substandard, and sat on the grounds with a six-room school and shop. All other buildings are extant. Visitors to the site will see artifacts from the school and era, as well as furnished rooms that reflect the period. The building provided housing for principals who worked in the school and their families.
