The Thomasville History Center is operated by the Thomas County Historical Society which was founded in 1952, and is one of the oldest historical societies in Georgia. The History Center’s mission ensures that the appreciation of our unique history remains an intrinsic and unbroken thread, connecting the past and future through settings that advance our story. Today, the History Center campus includes eight historic buildings on 3.3 acres of land.
We are dedicated to building a community and enlightening the future through the study of the past. Tours of the History Center are offered six days a week, as well as educational programs, free of charge, on topics of local historical interest. Over 700 chaperones and students from across the county are hosted at the site each year. The Thomas County Historical Society’s goal for the last 66 years has been to create a “sense of place” for our visitors. We work with a variety of partners across the Red Hills region to build a community of cultural resource institutions that all work to bring history, preservation, and culture to life.
Take a virtual tour of the Center's collections via the online collections database.
