QUIZ: If You Were a House, Which Architectural Style Would You Be?

  • By: Emma Peters

Have you ever wandered through a structure and felt wonderfully at ease in it? Alternatively, have you ever wandered through a structure and felt uneasy? If so, why?

People and houses go hand in hand; they depend on each other for survival, and they influence each other’s existence. Consequently, it’s not surprising that we have a history of anthropomorphizing our homes. Look no further than this illustration from an eighteenth-century Hebrew encyclopedia, which compares the interior of a human to the interior of a house, or to the movie Monster House (Gil Kenan, 2006), the entire plot of which revolves around a house being a living and breathing life form.

These thoughts are international and evergreen, and they beg the question: if you were a house, which architectural style would you be? Are you more of a stalwart Brutalist, or a histrionic Beaux-Arts? Take our quiz to find out!
