The St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum is a historic site dating back to 1589 with the first wooden watchtower built by the Spanish. The site of Florida's first lighthouse, the United States government made it official in 1824. The current St. Augustine Lighthouse was built between 1871-1874, with the original first order Fresnel lens from Paris, France installed at the top. It is still an active aid to navigation today.

The current lighthouse tower and the light station grounds are owned by the St. Augustine Lighthouse & Maritime Museum, Inc., a nonprofit maritime museum. The museum is open to the public 363 days a year. Admission fees support continued preservation of the lighthouse and five other historic structures, including two buildings from World War II.

Open until 7:00 p.m. during holiday weekends and in the summer.
