On Thursday, February 12 the Miami City Commission voted to designate Oak View Group to manage Miami Marine Stadium once it is restored. Selected by the city through a competitive, public process, Oak View Group brings extensive experience managing major cultural events.

The resolution’s passage marks a crucial step forward in advancing this long-anticipated preservation project.

Miami Marine Stadium is a nationally recognized historic site and a rare publicly accessible waterfront space within the city.

Since 2008, the National Trust for Historic Preservation has worked alongside local partners to revive the stadium. In 2009, it was included on our list of America’s 11 Most Endangered Historic Places, bringing national attention to the urgent need for action

This vote is not a final decision. It does not approve a construction plan, a budget, or a completed agreement. Miami voters will have the final say through a public referendum scheduled for August 2026.

Now is the time for preservation advocates to engage directly with your members of Congress and elevate the importance of historic preservation in your communities.
