Immerse Yourself in the Sounds of Nina Simone

Learn more about the work to save Nina Simone's Childhood Home.

Nina Simone was a legendary artist and a civil rights activist. She pioneered a unique and complex sound that shaped the fabric of American society. Till this day, her music continues to inspire listeners.

Since 2017 the National Trust for Historic Preservation's African American Cultural Heritage Action Fund has partnered with artists Adam Pendleton, Ellen Gallagher, Julie Mehretu, and Rashid Johnson, who had collectively purchased the Nina Simone's Childhood Home to save it from the threat of demolition. In 2025 the house was full restored and while not open to the public, it is ready for its next chapter.

To celebrate Nina Simone, take a break, and immerse yourself in her voice, her soul, and her sound through this playlist.
